With the number 1 pick in the WNBA Draft, the Minnesota Lynx have seleced UConn's Maya Moore. It was no surprise as Moore was a four-time All-American, two-time AP player of the year, helped lead the Huskies to their 90th straight victory this past season and back to back championships from 2009-2010.
As a Husky in 2011, Moore averaged 22.8 ppg and was the leader of the team. She becomes the second straight UConn player to be selected no. 1 overall with the selection of Tina Charles last year by the Connecticut Sun and the fourth UConn player overall to be selected with the first pick.
The Lynx finished 13-21 last season and have high hopes after winning the draft lottery and so does Maya Moore for this team.
"Every year the goal is a championship. That's what I expect. I go on to every team expecting to win a championship, especially with the amount of talent we have. I don't want to limit to the playoffs, I want to win a championship."
Moore also went on to sign with her new team soon after being drafted.
